WHY OUR GENERATION IS STRUGGLING: The Danger of Ingratitude!!

I wanted to write something about this last week but I refrained because people may misunderstand the intention.

In 2016 after Professional Ethics & Skills Examination, we planned for Thanksgiving service at the Chapel by 9pm. I headed to the Chapel by 8:30pm to rest and prepare for the final prayer and exhortation at the Thanksgiving service. At that time, students were having their cocktail party at the main auditorium.

Before that day, one female Chapel member asked me if I could spare time to see one guy that attends the Roman Catholic church that he's devastated about his performance at the on going bar final. I said no problem.
Now I was very weak because of accumulated stressed. I go to zaria for school every day of the week for three months. I just finished my exams in Zaria the week preceding the bar final week. I was heading to the Chapel before the cocktail and I started feeling very dizzy and couldn't see clearly, I was loosing my breath, I just remembered that I held on to and iron frame because I almost slumped. Thank God for that black and white barricade before you turn to the road that leads to the Chapel. People would have seen chaplain on the ground that night. I held on to the barricade and tried to catch my breathe.
I took some minutes there and later summoned courage and walked into my office at the Chapel, brought out a mat used by the children's department, laid on it to rest. It wasn't up to 3 mins someone knocked at my office door. Apparently, the person saw me walking down to the Chapel. I ignored the knock but the person persisted. I managed to get up, opened the door and there standing was a gloomy looking young man. I took him to main Chapel auditorium and asked him what the matter was. Suddenly, he broke down in tears and started narrating his ordeal in each paper of the bar final and how he thinks he was bewitched. He said immediately the lead exam supervisor say "please start" he will be completely blanked and sometimes, it will take like 30 minutes before he puts his pen on his answer sheet. He said he knows he won't make it because he didn't write anything substantial from Monday to Friday.

I was very weak and dizzy but I paid attention to him. You don't want to compound his problem by not showing rapt attention. I allowed him to take his time as he wept after the narration. When I felt he has cried enough, I encouraged him, held his hands and we poured out of desire to God. We were about rounding up the prayer when people started trooping into the Chapel for the Thanksgiving.

From his looks, the young man was relieved and stayed for the Thanksgiving service. I didn't get the chance to rest again before the Thanksgiving service. No one knew my state of health and I know plenty people were coming to cry out to God to help them out from one or two mistakes that they may have made in the exam that evening. The chaplain can't be seen to be have a weak or sickly disposition. But by the help of the Holy Spirit, I did encourage everyone and the Thanksgiving was a blessing to everyone.

Now fast forward to call to Bar period. I saw this young man's call to Bar pictures and just knew he finally passed the exam. Glory to God.
I won't say is my prayers that made him past. That would be foolish, arrogant and ignorant of me. Even if it's my prayer, it's not in my name that prayers are answered. But all I expected him to do was to give me a call and tell me he passed but he didn't. He never did till today.

THE DANGER OF OVER-FAMILIARITY!?

Satan is a thief & a murderer. He uses various forms of deception to steal, kill, & destroy. And among his arsenal is a weapon called FAMILIARITY. When familiarity is at work:

1. We ignore anything & anyone we become accustomed to.

2. We see no benefit in the gifts GOD has given us.

3. We mistreat or undervalue those who love us most.

4. We become bored with the people, positions, places, & possessions that others would die to have access to.

5. We miss the beauty in our surroundings & develop a "grass is greener" mentality.

Hope this is clear?

WE ALL HAVE IT IN BITS: No Bitterness Please....

Amaka, mentally deranged, sleeps under the bridge but in her hands are twin handsome boys she gave birth to some weeks ago....

Chinwe, lives in a posh house, drives  posh cars, attends the best hospital in town for ante natal care, but see her crying because she has another still birth....

Ada, beautiful, good job, good house, good husband yet her pillow suffers  every night with wetness of her tears, because  she is yet to conceive.....

Hmmmmnnnnn....

Life, is deep, who can understand it?

Bayo lives with his parents, his father is a poor carpenter, he goes to school on foot every morning with empty stomach, yet he is exceptionally brilliant....

Tade, a son of a wealthy politician, goes to school, with escorts and assorted food & drinks, yet he cannot assimilate what he is being taught....

Gbenga, son of a medical doctor, crippled, he cannot help himself, his father cannot help him, yet he treats others and they get healed....

What is in this life sef?

We all have it in bits, that is the irony of life.
So why the bitterness, the envy and the anger?
Let's learn to manage our bits and see how we can make it better.

Halimatu, virgin, focused, intelligent, but raped on her way to school. She became pregnant, and life was on hold for a moment....

Life!  Life!!! Life!!!

Hauwa, prostitute, nothing to write home about, but got married to a good man, have four lovely kids and doing great....

Aisha, rich family,  beautiful, good job, humble, but yet to have a man to call her own.....

No one should think he is better than the next person, because we have it in bits.
As we try to manage our bits, let us also try to be a support system.

No one is more, no one is less. We are all unique in our own bits.
Abi what do you think?..............

*IF YOU EVER VISIT THE HOSPITAL*
One of the numerous things I love about Africans is our utmost regard for community.
In our setting, everybody cares about everybody.
In a sense, it makes life worth living.
You tend to see this in health, but accentuated when loved ones celebrate events; fall sick or die.
The hospitals as such, are not exempt from this phenomenon, as you see people troop into hospitals for myriad reasons.

Below is a partial list of do's and don'ts:
**DO'S*
1. KEEP YOUR HANDS IN YOUR POCKET.
It could be tempting sometimes, but when you visit a hospital, PLEASE DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING- staircase, waste bins, windows, screens... Name it!
The hospital is a supremely dirty and contaminated place.
Bodily fluids[Blood, urine, ascitic fluid etc] have no brains, and as such won't spare you if they carry disease-causing agents.
Minimal contact is the rule.
Ensure not to leave with what you never came with.

2. WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE LEAVING.
Whether you mistakenly touched or not, ensure to wash your hands to avoid displacing some of these notorious germs.
A hand wash does no harms too.

3. MAKE IT BRIEF
The longer you stay on the wards, the more the chances of leaving with or transferring pathogens.
Keep it brief!

4. KEEP THE THE HOSPITAL CLEAN.
It seems people think the hospital is nobody's home but even if it ain't, common sense teaches that we do better.
Keep our hospitals clean.

5. KNOW THE DON'TS

**DON'TS*
1. DO NOT DISTURB.
The hospital houses the sick, the best you do is shout, run, laugh out loud?
For God's sake, I'm sure you could do better!

2. DON'T COME EMPTY-HANDED.
Sometimes, one cannot help but wish all those who visit patients come along with something for those they are visiting.
You could even go a tad further.
Instead, some people even visit so as to eat the excess brought by others.
I'm sure we could do better.

3. BRING NO KIDS.
Please, even if they enter the facility, ensure they don't enter the wards.
Their immune system is not as strong.
Any other thing to the left could end up being utter disservice to these innocent ones.

4. REDUCE THE VOLUME OF PRAYERS.
The Christian brethren- though not exclusive- are more culpable of this particular one.
[No offense intended]
Truth is, long on-the-knee ministry is the secret of short open ministrations.
You should do the long prayers in the secret place. When in the hospital, just discharge!
It's high time we comported ourselves with decorum worthy of whoever we claim to believe in.
Prayers have no barriers.
God can answer even if you are a million miles away.

5. NEVER HARASS THE PERSONNEL.
This is one of those things alien to us.
Never forget to communicate. No need for arguments, shouts, insults or the like.
[A big thumbs up to my northern brothers]

The health workers are human too.
They are committed to serving you; the least you can do is to encourage them.
I just said, encourage em;
Please pray for them too.
They do everything they do at the risk of their health and sanity.
PRAY FOR THEM.

YOUNG AGENTS OF CHANGE!!

......thank God that am still a youth!!!! Waking up everyday to see my nerves firmly grounded, my muscles still bouncing & my body still bubbling, I am filled with awe as I thank God for graciously granting me the privilege of being a vibrant young man at a time like this.

The most foundational stage of a man's life is His youthful stage of life. It is that period in your life that would determine what becomes of the rest if your life. It is the most critical stage of your life. What becomes of your life 10-20yrs from now is dependent on how well you utilize your today. Most people spend their today in activities that doesn't add much value to their lives. They engage in activities that will excite the body  & give them pleasure. Some just seek after pleasure as their utmost priority. But the youthful stage of life is not just a period of pleasure but a time of gainful pain. It is a time to engage in the hardwork of building one's future. It is a time to invest your time wisely.  It is a time to walk with the right set of people & to pursue your dreams with vigor. The youthful stage of life is a time to take critical decision about your life.
As you make your youthful stage of life count this season, I pray that God will add greater grace to your years in Jesus name, Amen!
Don't spend this stage if yout life in smoking, premarital sex, alcohol etc. rather spend most of your time in quality devotion to God, your academics, your dreams, passion & aspiration. Invest your money & time wisely. It is well with your soul!

V.N Eze Esq.
FINISHING STRONG
The battles of life demands consistency & persistence. No greatness is achieved on the platter of gold. If your goal is a global one, expect a global fight. The challenges that come to you is determined by how magnificient your goal is. Most of us fight with poverty, hunger & sickness....just like me. Mosy times I wonder why I'm contendimg with forces I know nothing about but I keep hearing a still small voice telling me to calm down because I being prepared for the Nations of the earth. I feel encouraged whenever I listen to this voice.

I want to encourage you to keep pressing on. No matter how tough it may seem, just keep pushing strong. Keep presding on so that you can finish strong. My dear don't feel unfortunate nor miserable. You are being made for the Nations. The 'Making' process is a strenous one but there is joy at the end of the tunnel. Keep on pushing harder until destiny bows to you. No matter what, don't give up!!

LET THERE BE TRUTH & TRANSPARENCY IN GOVERNANCE
What has killed our government  today is the absence of TRUTH in governance. Every leader is like a lawyer who owes tripatite duty to his profession, the state, his client & ultimately, his conscience. If a leader can uphold his duty to his conscience, then we will have a better society. It is this duty that will uplift the character of a leader above personal and selfish achievement. The temptation to become money druk will come as a leader  but once you uphold your duty to your conscience, you will fight to maintain your integrity than collect money  for ephemeral pleasure.

Money has become the weak point of many leaders. Some have sold their conscience because of money. Some has betrayed the trust  of their brothers & followers due to money. Many leaders in Nigeria today are not better than the biblical  judas iscariot who sold his conscience & master in exchange for some cash. Many of us need to genuinely repent as leaders. We need to value our integrity more than we crave for money!!
The  society will be better off once  we do this!!

CRIME

this world is very  easy to pronounce and very easy to commit. Crime has become one of our daily activity, this is what most of  us cannot do without. it is now citizens  right to commit crimes . many people think  if you don't go contrary against the law that you will not get what you want or get where you want to be. On the other hand  some don't know when they go contrary against the law, which is the major problem we are facing today because of lack of crime education have not been taught in our primary and secondary school in our great country. if universal basic education can bring crime education in our lower basic education institution, it will enble the young ones to know the law of the country and how to obey them so that they will not be like this old ones now that don't know there left and right saying that they are fighting corruption. To stop corruption in this country you must start  from the grassroots before going to the top but if you decide to start from the top that means at the end corruption will be fighting you not you fighting it. Those at the top cannot do without corruption  because that is how they get in there and they can't stop bĂ©ecause it have become their backbone, that is the main reason why crime education should be taught in lower basic education institutions so that the young ones will choose the right way

THE VICTOR'S FORMULAR
The winning attitude is a mindset! It is an attitufde of continuous victory in the face of crises. All my life, I've been foghting battles. Sometimes I loose but most times I win. My battles started when I was still a sperm. I fought with over 5000 persons & I survived. Victors don't loose!!! They may not win at all times but they don't give up. They live to fight again. Thats who I am!

I have never gotten anything on a platter of Gold. Everything I have was gotten on the platter of battles. I fight myself sometimes. Thats the greatest fight. If you can conquer yourself, then every other battle becomes easy. To conquer yourself means to deny yourself of pleasure....for the sake of what you're pursuing. What your body wants is rest & pleasure but the real you (that does the real work) needs discipline to function effectively. You need to work on your mind if you want to conquer the  body!

Thats the Victor's Formular!!!

JUST HAVE A FRIEND
In life, you need a friend! You need someone you can lean on in times of pain. You need someone you can laugh with & someone you can be sincere with. You need someone you can share your secrets with. You need a laugh-mate. You need a partner in crime. You need someone you can play with. You need someone you can share a pack of biscuit with. You need a partner..someone you can share memories with. You need a friend!!

Your friend may be person of same sex or opposite sex. Just ensure he qualifies to be called a friend. In life, you need not walk alone. You start losing life when you trust nobody. You need someone you can trust. Thats why I advise to marry their friend who will be their life partner & not their 'Money-Partner'. Don't let money dictate your way of life. Marry someone who will insure your eternal joy & happiness...not just a guy who can foot the bills.

Having said that, I enjoin you to go get a friend if you don't have one!
THERE IS A LOT MORE THAN SPEAKING IN TONGUES

A lot of Christians erroneously think that Christianity simply means going to Church & blasting in tongues. But there is a lot more to that. Praying in strange tongues has been abused by lots of Christians. Dear, if you can't do something different after praying in tongues then you better keep quiet. Praying in tongues is s spiritual exercise for physical manifestation.
Thats why Apostle Paul boasted by saying that he speaks in tongues more than all the saints. In another phase he said, I can do all things through Christ that Strengthens me. Speaking in tongues is where you generate energy to do all things! It gives you the power 'to do'.
Don't be a religious or carnal Christian that only prays in tongues for the fun of it. Learn to utilize the energy you generated while praying in tongues to do great things. Thats the secret & distinguishing factor of Christianity from other Religions (although Christianity is not a Religion....buh thats a topic for another day)
DO WHAT GIVES YOU JOY

Most of us can earn a living by mereby building on our hobby. You can earn a living from your hobby....that playful act that gives you joy. For me, it is writing & drafting Legal documents that gives me pleasure. I feel so good with myself when I write or speak to an audience. Thats my hobby!  Most of us love to play games...some love to dance or sing. These are hobbies. You can convert them to your means of living by doing them continously & building on them.
I tell people that what distinguishes you is not what you read in the university or studied in school. Afterall, a lot of people have been doing that same thing you're doing but you can distinguish yourself by doing something different. Create a ninche for yourselve. Do something extra-ordinary. If you are a believer who has the Holy Spirit, He makes this a lot easier for you. He gives you the capability to add flavour to all thy doing.

So, do something different today!!!

START SMALL
Many of us have big dreams. There are so much in our mind which we intend to achieve but we limit ourselves with the 'I hvae no money syndrome'. My dear, you don't need just money to be successful. You need passion and skill. Learn to start little. Many of us wamt to start big & most times limit ourselve.  You can start that your big idea in a small platform.

For instance, as a writer, I've written several books. I kept thinking of when I will have enough money to publish all my books. But the money I needed wasn't coming forth. I learnt to publish my write-ups via my social media platforms. People were being blessed & thats my source of joy. So, don't wait until you're given millions before you can start. Learn to start small!! It pays!!

ARE WE ORPHANS IN NYSC??

I was paid #1400 as Bicycle allowance in 2018. Bikonu, which Bicycle is sold for #1,400 in this era? Infact, Nigerian youths are being maltreated as though we're fatherless. We are paid peanuts and expected to work as slaves. Why will you make a National service compulsory when you're unwilling to pay your servants?

We need a good master in NYSC. We need someone who will appreciate the fact that we are human beings. We are youths and we have a bright future. If you want to Nationally intergrate us, then pay us well. We are not asking for too much. Encourage us to marry early by paying us well. Don't let our guys suffer in the hands of babes. O boy, how you fit chyke correct babe with #19,800. Una no go go Restaurant?

I hope the incoming Government listens to the cries of NYSC members because we have suffered enough!!

TIPS ON OVERCOMING PORNOGRAPHIC ADDICTION

Most of the youths in our generation are burdened with the guilt of pornographic addiction. I was not an exception. For almost a decade, I was held under the grip of pornography. I watched porn on daily basis. I was a leader in church & in the secular world but my religious inclination could not deliver me from pornographic addiction. I hid who I was for years & lived in pretense. I was a hypocrite.

As I suffered daily on the clutches of immorality as a result of my addiction to pornography, I hated myself but I could not help it. At a point in life, I knew that I needed help. I went to my mentor, Uncle Jide Olunubi (Cordinator of Gentlemen's Club) who counselled me & prayed for me. I applied few of the principles he shared with me. God also gave me some tips on how I can permanently overcome porn Addiction.

I'll share few of them with you guys. I've written a book titled 'OVERCOMING PORNOGRAPHIC ADDICTION'. I'll make the e-copy available here for free. You can access it here & learn how I overcame mine. I shared the story of my struggle with porn in the book & went on to enumerate practical principles which when carefully applied would prove to be effective in permanently conquering the menace called porn.

One major way of overcoming Pornography is through CONFESSION. Sin thrives in Secrecy. If you really want to be free from porn addiction, you need to have someone in your life whom you can open up to. Don't be ashamed in doing this.

Secondly, you need to get GAINFULLY BUSY. You can choose to get busy with your phone by applying for an online course or reading materials that edify & inspire you.
You will learn other principles when you go through the book. Thank you!

PAMPER YOUR BAE
Women are fragile creatures. They are God's gift to man. They deserve love, care, tenderness & persistent communication. Women are precious jewels. They are the best thing to happen to man. If you've not bought your mum, sisters & bae a gift before, then you're the world's greatest stingy guy. Learn to pamper them. Learn to listen to them. What a woman needs is not just your money. She needs your time & tongue. Some bad dudes will be happy to hear tongue....Lol. When I say that a woman needs your tongue, I merely mean that she needs your communication. Learn to talk to them. When you so do....you'll be the happiest man in the whole world.

Learn to share your Ideas, plans & vision with your woman. Thats the recipe for living!!!
LOVE MY VISION NOT MY TELEVISION

I've been to the west, the south, the north & to the east. One common trend among all the women I've met in my little sojourn on mother earth is their love for money & materialism. Few women believe in their men. Show me a woman that believes in her man I'll show you the next First lady of Nigeria. Patience Jonathan believed in her husband when he was a mere classroom teacher...& she rose to become the number one lady of Nigeria. It grieves me whenever I meet women who judge me based on how much I have. I may be a broke ass nigga today but I know that my head is not broke of ideas. A lot of guys are greatness waiting to happen. They may be broke today but give them few years from today & see how much they'll achieve. Thats why I urge my sisters not to judge a man based on his wealth today & the biggness of his television but to judge him based his vision.

A lot of ladies doesn't want to suffer. Thats why I'm still single because I'm broke today but I know that my future is brighter than I can imagine. I enjoin you dearest babe to love your boo because of his VISION not because of the size of his Television. If you love a guy because of his vision, greatness awaits you. God bless your boo's hustle!!!

DON'T GO TO SCHOOL: Be Educated

So much emphasis has been placed on certificate much more than KNOWLEDGE! Knowledge is still the key to greatness, not Certificate. In Nigeria, we honour people with certificate more than we respect Business men & Technocrats. If Certificate is the solution to Nigeria's problem, I think we did be the richest country in the world because we have Certified Majority of youths in Nigeria. Unfortunately, they are all living in poverty. With certificate you can get a job but with knowledge, you get a 'Work' and become an employer. I'm currently staying with my Aunty who read Mass Communication in the university but today, she is a Professional Tailor (Fashion Designer) in Abuja. She employs people because she is good at what she does.
Instead of spending your parents hard earned money going to school & cursing JAMB for not giving you admission, I advise you to learn a trade. Find a handwork & do. While in School, I was doing dry cleaning work to earn a living. There are so many business you can do as a student. Please, engage youself in a gainful business today. Thank you!!

THE CLARION CALL (NYSC)

The National Youth Service Corps is the clarion call of the Nation Nigeria on its young people. Such call ought to be a worthy cause but unfortunately, it is a sham!! Corruption has its abode in the NYSC administration. For instance, we were told at the Camp that we have a National Health insurance from the Federal Government. One expects that such National Health Protection should cover all the risk involved in the NYSC camp but such is not the case. A friend of mine, Ola, took ill & was referred to a University teaching Hospital from the camp clinic. After her discharge from the hospital, she was held hostage for being unable to pay her medical bills of #14,500. She called the Camp clinic only for her to be told to pay the bills with her first Allowee. I was mad when I heard this. I immediately reached the camp director but I was told to hold my peace & mind my business because States are not given the money for the National insurance. I was told that what  states do is to organize condolence visit to the home of any deceased corp member. At that point in time, I lost faith im humanity. I was admitted at the Camp clinic for a minor injury but the drugs I was administered with was brought from Lagos by my uncle.

The Federal Government has been promising to Pay Corps members #48,000, but till date, we are being paid #19,800. The staffs especially the Senior staffs of NYSC are being paid peanuts...so tell me why they won't be corrupt. If we want to fight Corruption as a Nation, I advise that we start from NYSC. But please, all the offficials of NYSC especially the Directors should be handsomely paid. Don't owe them their salary. Increase our allowee. I pray the incoming Government increases our minimum wage & Consequently our NYSC Allawee.

DON'T DISARM OUR GOVERNMENT

The Judiciary is an arm of the government. I'm tempted to say that it is the most important arm because it can solely install members of other arms of government, the Executive & the Legislature. When I knew that the present Nigerian Government has lost their political battle was when the houses of our Judges was invaded and they were publicly humiliated.

At the NYSC CAMP, I led a group of Law Corp Members to the Camp Director to inquire why the Judiciary is not recognized in the National youth service Programme. The simple answer he gave us was that it was a mere omission. I was angry as to why the Health Sector, the Educational Sector, The Agricultural Sector & the Infrastructural Sector of the economy will be recognised in the NYSC while an Arm of government, the Judiciary will not be recognised in the NYSC Programme. The intimidation, humiliation & disgrace we, the judicial arm of government is experiencing in Nigeria is not far-Fetched.

To solve this problem, I think the Judiciary should be made financially independent!! All Law Corps member should be posted to the Ministry of Justice.  Worlkers at the Ministry of Justice should be paid all their outstanding salary & allowances. Our Legal Practitioners Act & Rules of Professional Conduct should be revived. With this, the arm (democratic power) of our Government will be restored & revived!!!

THE DIVIDENDS OF POVERTY

Poverty is a blesing in disguise.90% of Nigerians are currently poor. But in a time where the wealth of a nation seems to dry up completely, there is a season of abundance that is about to overflow. I grew up as a poor kid. I struggled my way through school. But today, marks the beginning of a new dawn for me. I would be called to the Nigerian bar in a couple of days. Buying my wig & gown seems to be a heculian task for my poor parents but I keep on encouraging them to be Patient & hopeful in God. I've written over fifteen (15) books & I know say my maga go soon pay. So I encourage every poor man & woman out there on the street to remain thankful to God Almighty. We are blessed beyond measure. Many rich kids are in the hospital, some are in prisons but here we are, healthy & hearty. Since hunger didn't kill us since 2015, we trust God to send us a Messiah.

Expect my 2 books titled: 'The School of Poverty' & 'Lets Conquer Poverty with Atiku & Peter Obi.

PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE

I have been trained in the school of Patience! To God's glory, I just graduated. Many of us die early because we are in a hurry. Life demands patience & consistency. The more patient you are in life the more likely you're gonna succeed. But when you're in a haste, you put your health at stake. Today I am a product of patience. Our Presidential candidate, Mr. Atiku Abubakar has been Patient in his quest to contest & win as the President of Nigeria. I pray he succeeds because he is an epitome of Patience. The current President is also a product of Patience. He has contested & lost severally but he remained consistent. I advice fellow Nigerian youths to be patient in their ambition. We are all gonna make it someday!!! Patience pays!!!
